Foundry Labs · Financial services

AI for financial services that stands up to audit.

A financial institution cannot run AI it cannot explain. We design and build systems for operations, research and compliance in which every decision is traceable, bounded by policy and reviewable, with people handling the exceptions that carry real risk.

Where financial services start

  • AI Agents & Workflow Automation

    from 3 days · from $6,000 + GST

Reconciliation, exception handling and operational reporting, with the agent doing the repetitive throughput and an operator supervising the edge cases.

  • Knowledge Assistants (RAG)

    from 3 days · from $6,000 + GST

Research and document intelligence across large, fragmented collections of filings, reports and internal documents, with sourced answers an analyst can verify.

  • AI Governance & Responsible AI

    2 to 4 days · from $4,000 + GST

Policies, guardrails and oversight frameworks so compliance teams can approve AI use with an audit trail behind it.

  • Data & Systems Integration

    from 2 days · from $4,000 + GST

Connecting brittle legacy systems and data sources so information flows cleanly and the AI has something reliable to work with.

  • Fractional Chief AI Officer

    monthly retainer · from $4,000 + GST / month

Senior AI leadership on a retainer, setting direction and oversight without a full-time executive hire.

Day rate $2,000 + GST per day. Scope and price are confirmed before work begins.

How we make it auditable

Every decision traceable

Inputs, steps, validations and approvals are recorded, so you can show a regulator or a client how an output was produced.

Bound by policy

The system acts only inside limits you set. Anything outside them stops and goes to a person.

Humans on the exceptions

Routine volume is automated. The unusual cases, where the risk is, are routed to an operator with the evidence in front of them.

Tested against real workflows, with the cost in view

We test on messy real documents and real volumes early, and design for token, retry and latency costs from the start.

Experience behind this

Mark Monfort, Managing Director of Foundry Labs, led the analytics behind INSIGHT, an independent equity research product acquired by Canaccord Genuity, then spent two years in London as Vice President of Data Solutions merging it into the bank’s Quest® equity model. Revenue for the Quest and data division grew by more than two-thirds over those two years.

Before that he worked on market data and analytics at the ASX. He founded ETFtracker, a data and research platform for the Australian ETF market, and was selected through NotCentralised for both Australian central bank digital money pilots.

Questions we are asked

Can AI be used inside a regulated financial institution?
Yes, where the design can explain what the system did, keep an audit trail, limit what it may do and keep a person in control of the decisions that matter. We build to those requirements. We do not give regulatory advice, and your compliance function decides what is acceptable for your institution.
Where does AI help most in financial operations?
In repetitive, document-heavy and exception-heavy work: reconciliation, exception handling, operational reporting, extracting data from documents, and research across large collections of filings and reports.
How do you keep a human in control?
Each workflow has defined checkpoints. The system handles routine volume inside policy limits, and anything unusual, uncertain or high-impact is routed to a person who approves or overrides it.
Can you work with our existing systems?
Yes. Much of the work is connecting existing tools, data sources and pipelines so information flows cleanly, rather than replacing them.
What does it cost?
Our day rate is $2,000 + GST. An opportunity and readiness assessment runs one to two days, and the full price list is on the services page. Scope and price are confirmed before work begins.
