How big is the Australian ETF market?

$371.6bn was held in 468 ETFs and other quoted products in August 2026, up from $94.4bn in December 2020, according to ETFtracker's analysis of the ASX and Cboe Australia monthly reports. Growth includes market movement as well as inflows.

How many ETF issuers are there in Australia?

70 issuers had quoted products in August 2026, up from 25 in December 2020. 19 of them had more than $1bn.

Who are the largest ETF issuers in Australia?

Vanguard (29% of assets), Betashares (20%) and iShares (17%) are the largest, and the top three together hold 66% of assets.

How many new ETFs reach $100 million?

Of 173 products launched from 2020 to 2024 that started below $100m, 78 have reached it, taking a median 12 months. 76 are still listed below it and 16 have closed.

Do small ETFs cost more to trade?

Yes. The median bid-ask spread is 0.27% for products under $25m and 0.04% for products over $2bn.
